Breakdancing is an exciting style of street dance. Dancers spin on their heads, flip in the air, and do amazing moves on the floor. It started in New York City in the 1970s. Breakdancing is part of hip-hop culture. It is now popular all over the world.
Breakdancing Moves
Breakdancing has four main types of moves. Toprock is dancing while standing up. Downrock is dancing on the floor using hands and feet. Power moves are spins and flips like the windmill and headspin. Freezes are poses where the dancer holds a position, often on one hand.
Breakdancing Becomes a Sport
Breakdancing started at block parties in the Bronx, New York. Young people danced in circles called cyphers. Dancers competed to show the best moves. Breakdancing grew and spread around the world. In 2024, breakdancing was added to the Olympic Games in Paris.
