Photography

Photography is a fun way to make pictures. You use a camera to catch a moment in time. The camera saves what you see so you can look at it later. People take photos of family, pets, places, and even food. Photos help us remember happy times and share them with others.

How Cameras Work

A camera has a small hole called a lens. Light goes through the lens and makes a picture inside the camera. Old cameras used film to save the picture. New cameras save photos on a tiny chip. Phones also have cameras built in. You just tap a button and the camera does the rest.

There are many kinds of photos. A portrait is a photo of a person. A landscape is a photo of land, like hills or the sea. Some people take photos of animals in the wild. Others take photos of tiny bugs up close. You can even take photos of stars in the night sky.
