The Harp
The Harp
The harp is a beautiful instrument with lots of strings. It is shaped like a triangle and stands tall on the floor. The player plucks the strings with their fingers to make music. The harp has a soft, dreamy sound.
How the Harp Works
A big concert harp has 47 strings. The strings are different lengths and thicknesses to make different notes. Some strings are colored red and blue so players can find the right ones. The player uses both hands and steps on seven pedals at the bottom with their feet.
Harps in History
The harp is one of the oldest instruments in the world. People played harps in Egypt more than 5,000 years ago. Kings and queens loved harp music in medieval times. Today, the harp is played in orchestras and in Irish and Celtic music.
