Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein Castle is a beautiful castle in the mountains of southern Germany. It was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the 1800s. The castle looks like something from a fairy tale, with white walls and tall blue towers. It is one of the most visited castles in the world.

A King's Dream

King Ludwig II loved art, music, and fairy tales. He built the castle as a private escape from the real world. The rooms inside are filled with paintings of legends and stories. The castle even has a small cave built inside one of the rooms! Sadly, Ludwig ran out of money and was declared unfit to be king before the castle was finished.

The Disney Connection

Walt Disney visited Neuschwanstein Castle and loved it. It inspired the design of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. The castle's towers and hilltop location made it the perfect model for a fairy-tale kingdom. Today, about 1.4 million people visit the real castle every year.

Fun Facts
