Alabama is a state in the southern part of the United States. It has warm weather, green forests, and beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. The capital is Montgomery. Alabama played a big part in American history, especially during the fight for civil rights.
Civil Rights History
Alabama was a very important place during the civil rights movement. In the 1950s and 1960s, people worked hard to end unfair laws against Black Americans. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat in Montgomery in 1955. Martin Luther King Jr. led peaceful marches in Alabama. These brave actions helped change America.
Land and Life
Alabama has many kinds of land. The north has hills and forests. The south has beaches and swamps. Alabama's Gulf Coast has white sand beaches and clear blue water. The state grows lots of peanuts, cotton, and soybeans. Many people in Alabama love college football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide team.
