Arizona is a state in the southwestern United States. It is known for hot deserts and red rocks. The Grand Canyon, one of the most amazing places in the world, is in Arizona. Its capital is Phoenix. Arizona became a state in 1912.
The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is a giant canyon carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. It is more than a mile deep in some places. Visitors can hike, ride mules, or even float down the river in a raft. The canyon has many layers of colorful rock. It is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Desert Life
Arizona has the Sonoran Desert, where tall saguaro cactuses grow. These cactuses can live for 200 years and grow very big. Rattlesnakes, lizards, and roadrunners live in the desert. Summers in Arizona are very hot, but the nights can be cool. People in Arizona enjoy the warm weather all year.
