Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country in the Balkans region of Europe. It has a long name, so people often just call it Bosnia. The land has tall mountains, clear rivers, and green valleys. About 3.5 million people live there, and the capital is Sarajevo.

Mountains and Rivers

Bosnia is full of beautiful nature. The Dinaric Alps run through the country and are great for hiking and skiing. Rivers like the Neretva have water so clean you can almost see the bottom. The country has thick forests where bears, wolves, and deer live. In winter, snow covers the mountains and people love to ski. Sarajevo even hosted the Winter Olympics in 1984.

History and Culture

Bosnia has a mix of cultures from Europe and the Middle East. You can see old mosques, churches, and markets in the same town. The famous Old Bridge in Mostar was built more than 400 years ago. Bosnians speak Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian, which are all very similar. They enjoy grilled meats, coffee, and sweet pastries. Coffee time is an important part of daily life.
