Cape Verde is a country made up of ten volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It lies off the west coast of Africa. Cape Verde is known for its mix of African and Portuguese cultures. The islands have beautiful mountains, beaches, and a style of music called morna.

About 560,000 people live in Cape Verde. The capital is Praia. The islands are volcanic, and the highest point is Mount Fogo, an active volcano. Some islands are green and lush, while others are dry and sandy.
