Cyprus
Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. The weather is warm and sunny almost all year. About 1.2 million people live in Cyprus, and the capital is Nicosia.
Beaches and Mountains
Cyprus has beautiful beaches with clear blue water. Sea turtles come to lay their eggs on some of the sandy shores. In the middle of the island, there are mountains called the Troodos. In winter, it can even snow high up in these mountains. The island is full of olive trees, lemon trees, and grape vines. Farmers have grown these plants for thousands of years.
Old Stories
Cyprus has a very long history. Ancient Greeks believed the island was the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. You can still visit her rock by the sea. There are also old Roman ruins with colorful mosaics. People in Cyprus speak Greek and Turkish. They enjoy foods like halloumi cheese, grilled meats, and fresh salads.
