Florida

Florida is a state in the southeastern United States. It is shaped like a long peninsula with water on three sides. Florida is known for warm weather, sandy beaches, and orange trees. Its capital is Tallahassee. People call it the Sunshine State.

Beaches and Wildlife

Florida has more than 1,300 miles of coastline. Many people visit the beaches to swim and look for seashells. The Everglades is a huge wetland full of alligators, birds, and fish. Manatees and dolphins live in Florida's warm waters. The state has lots of sunshine all year long.

Fun and Travel

Florida has many theme parks, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Millions of people visit each year. Rockets blast off into space from the Kennedy Space Center on the east coast. Florida grows most of the oranges in the United States. The city of Miami is a busy and colorful place.
