Georgia (U.S. State)

Georgia is a state in the southeastern United States. It has warm weather, sandy beaches, and green forests. The capital and largest city is Atlanta. Georgia is often called the Peach State because of its famous fruit.

Georgia has many kinds of land. The north has hills and mountains. The middle has rolling farmland. The south has swamps and beaches. The Okefenokee Swamp is one of the biggest swamps in the country. It is home to alligators, frogs, and many birds.

History and Food

Georgia was one of the first 13 colonies of America. The civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta. Georgia is famous for its peaches, peanuts, and sweet Vidalia onions. Coca-Cola was first made in Atlanta in 1886. Today, Atlanta is a big city with tall buildings and busy airports.
