Indonesia is a huge country in Southeast Asia made up of over 17,000 islands. It has more islands than any other country on Earth. Indonesia has volcanoes, rainforests, and is home to the Komodo dragon, the world's largest lizard.

Land and People

About 275 million people live in Indonesia, making it the fourth most populated country. The capital is Jakarta. Indonesia stretches across thousands of miles of ocean. It has over 130 active volcanoes and the island of Borneo has thick rainforests.

Culture and Fun Facts

Indonesia has over 700 languages spoken across its islands. Nasi goreng, or fried rice, is the national dish. Bali is a famous island known for temples and surfing. Shadow puppet theater, called wayang, tells ancient stories using cut-out leather puppets.
