Maine

Maine is the most northeast state in the United States. It has a long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Thick forests cover most of the land. Many lighthouses stand along the rocky shore. The state is famous for lobster, blueberries, and cold winters.

Coast and Forests

Maine has hundreds of small islands off its coast. Acadia National Park is a favorite place for hiking and watching the sunrise. Tall pine trees grow in the forests. Moose and black bears live deep in the woods. Fishermen catch lobster and clams from the cold ocean.

People and Food

Augusta is the capital of Maine. Not many people live in Maine compared to other states. Most live near the coast in small towns. Maine is famous for lobster rolls and wild blueberry pie. The state makes more maple syrup than almost anywhere else in the country.
