Nepal

Nepal is a small country between China and India. It is home to the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. Nepal is in the Himalaya Mountains and has some of the most amazing scenery on Earth.

Land and People

About 30 million people live in Nepal. The capital is Kathmandu. Eight of the ten tallest mountains in the world are in Nepal. The country goes from flat, hot jungles in the south to freezing mountain peaks in the north.

Culture and Fun Facts

Nepal is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, who became the Buddha. The Nepali flag is the only national flag that is not a rectangle. Dal bhat, a lentil soup with rice, is eaten twice a day. Sherpas are famous mountain guides who help climbers on Everest.
