New York City is the largest city in the United States. It has more than 8 million people living in it. The city is famous for its tall buildings, busy streets, and yellow taxi cabs. It is sometimes called 'the Big Apple.' New York City sits by the Atlantic Ocean in New York State.
Famous Places
New York City has many famous landmarks. The Statue of Liberty stands tall on an island in the harbor. It was a gift from France long ago. Central Park is a huge green park in the middle of the city. Times Square is full of bright lights and big TV screens. The Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the world.
Five Boroughs
New York City is made up of five parts called boroughs. They are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Manhattan has the most skyscrapers and famous sights. People move around the city on a big subway system with underground trains. The city never sleeps because there is always something going on.
