New York State
New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is home to New York City, one of the biggest cities in the world. The state also has forests, mountains, and waterfalls. Its capital is Albany. New York is nicknamed the Empire State.

New York City is famous for tall skyscrapers like the Empire State Building. The Statue of Liberty stands on an island in the harbor. Central Park is a huge green park in the middle of the city. Millions of people visit New York City each year. Broadway is famous for its live theater shows.
Nature and History
Outside the big city, New York has beautiful nature. Niagara Falls, on the border with Canada, is a giant waterfall. The Adirondack Mountains are great for hiking and camping. The state has many farms that grow apples and make dairy products. New York was one of the first 13 states of the United States.
