Ohio

Ohio is a state in the middle part of the United States. It is known as the Buckeye State after a type of tree. Ohio has lots of farms, big cities, and Lake Erie on its northern border. The capital city is Columbus.

Ohio has mostly flat land that is great for farming. Farmers grow corn, soybeans, and wheat. Big cities include Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Lake Erie is one of the Great Lakes and touches the northern part of the state. Many people enjoy boating and fishing there.

Famous People

Many famous people were born in Ohio. Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, grew up here. Eight U.S. presidents came from Ohio. The Wright brothers, who built the first airplane, were from Dayton, Ohio. The state has made many important contributions to America.
