Sierra Leone is a country on the west coast of Africa. It sits next to the Atlantic Ocean. The country has pretty beaches, thick rainforests, and rolling hills. Its name means Lion Mountains in Portuguese. The capital city is Freetown.

Freetown, the capital, was started as a home for freed slaves in the 1700s. People enjoy foods like rice, cassava leaves, and fish stew. Music with drums and singing is a big part of culture.
