Slovenia

Slovenia is a small country in central Europe. It sits between Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia. Slovenia has a short coast on the Adriatic Sea. Most of the country is green with thick forests and tall mountains. It is one of the most forested countries in Europe.

Lakes and Mountains

Lake Bled is one of the most famous places in Slovenia. It has bright blue water and a tiny island with a church in the middle. Nearby are the Julian Alps, with tall snowy peaks. The Triglav mountain is the highest point in the country. People hike, swim, and row boats in this area. Slovenia also has rivers you can raft down.

Caves and Towns

Slovenia has thousands of caves under the ground. The Postojna Cave is one of the biggest and has a little train that takes visitors inside. Strange pale cave animals called olms live in the caves. The capital city, Ljubljana, has a castle on a hill and pretty bridges over a river. People speak Slovenian and enjoy honey, apples, and potato dishes.
