South Africa is a country at the very bottom of the African continent. It is called the Rainbow Nation because of its many different cultures and people. South Africa has amazing wildlife, beautiful coastlines, and three capital cities.

Land and People

About 60 million people live in South Africa. It has three capitals: Pretoria, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein. Table Mountain towers over Cape Town. The country has savannas, mountains, deserts, and beaches where two oceans meet.

South Africa has 11 official languages! Nelson Mandela fought for equal rights and became the first Black president. Rugby and soccer are favorite sports. People enjoy braai, which is a South African barbecue. The Big Five animals roam in national parks.
