Tennessee is a state in the southern United States. It has green hills, rivers, and the Great Smoky Mountains. The state is known around the world for its music. Cities like Nashville and Memphis are music capitals. Tennessee also has tasty food like barbecue and hot chicken.
Mountains and Rivers
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is in eastern Tennessee. It is the most visited national park in the country. The mountains often look blue because of the mist. The Tennessee River winds through the state. Bears, deer, and wild turkeys live in the forests.
Music and Cities
Nashville is the capital and is called Music City. Country music stars perform at the famous Grand Ole Opry. Memphis is known for blues and rock and roll music. Elvis Presley lived in a Memphis mansion called Graceland. People come from all over the world to hear music here.
