Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia. It is called the Land of Smiles because Thai people are known for being friendly. Thailand has golden temples, tropical beaches, and some of the most delicious food in the world.

Land and People

About 70 million people live in Thailand. The capital is Bangkok. Thailand has mountains in the north, rice paddies in the middle, and beautiful islands in the south. Elephants are an important symbol of the country.

Culture and Fun Facts

Thai food like pad thai, green curry, and mango sticky rice is loved around the world. Thailand has thousands of Buddhist temples with golden spires. Muay Thai is a type of boxing that uses fists, elbows, knees, and shins. The Thai New Year is celebrated with a giant water fight!

Every April, Thai people celebrate their New Year, called Songkran, with the world's biggest water fight. Everyone splashes water on each other in the streets. It goes on for three days and even elephants join in to spray people!
