Tibet

Tibet is a region high up in the mountains of Asia. It is part of China. Tibet sits on a huge flat area called a plateau. It is so high that people call it the Roof of the World. The air is thin, and the weather can be very cold.

Mountains and Nature

The Himalayan mountains stand on the southern edge of Tibet. Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth, is found here. Yaks, which are shaggy cattle, help carry loads and give milk. Snow leopards hide in the high rocks. Many rivers of Asia start in Tibetan mountains.
