Wisconsin is a state in the northern part of the Midwest. It is known as America's Dairyland because it makes so much milk and cheese. Wisconsin has thousands of lakes and two of the Great Lakes touch its borders. The capital city is Madison.
Dairy State
Wisconsin has more dairy cows than almost any other state. Farmers make many kinds of cheese here. People who love the Green Bay Packers football team sometimes wear big foam cheese hats. The state makes over 600 types of cheese. Kids love visiting dairy farms to see the cows.
Lakes and Nature
Wisconsin has more than 15,000 lakes. Lake Michigan and Lake Superior border the state. People enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating in the summer. In winter, many people ice skate and ski. The forests are home to deer, bears, and bald eagles.
