Carnotaurus
Carnotaurus
Carnotaurus was a unique meat-eating dinosaur with horns like a bull. Its name means "meat-eating bull." It lived about 72 million years ago in what is now Argentina. It was built for speed!
Bull Horns
Carnotaurus had two thick horns above its eyes. No other large meat-eating dinosaur had horns like these. Scientists think the horns may have been used in head-pushing contests with other Carnotaurus. Its skull was short and deep, giving it a bulldog-like face.
Built for Speed
Carnotaurus was about 26 feet long and weighed about 1.5 tons. It had long, powerful legs built for running fast. Scientists think it could reach speeds of about 30 miles per hour. Its arms were even tinier than T. Rex's arms. They were so small they were almost useless.
Fun Facts
- Carnotaurus had the tiniest arms of any large meat-eating dinosaur — even smaller than T. Rex's.
- Skin impressions show it was covered in bumpy, pebbly scales.
- It could probably run about 30 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest large predators.

Carnotaurus is one of the few large dinosaurs where we have actual skin impressions. Its skin was covered in rows of large, bumpy scales, with no feathers!
