Giganotosaurus

Giganotosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs ever. Its name means "giant southern lizard." It lived about 98 million years ago in what is now Argentina. It may have been even longer than T. Rex!

A Giant Hunter

Giganotosaurus was about 43 feet long and weighed about 8 tons. Its skull was about 5 feet long, one of the biggest of any meat-eating dinosaur. It had thin, sharp teeth designed for slicing through flesh. It lived millions of years before T. Rex ever existed.

Hunting Giants

Giganotosaurus lived at the same time as huge plant-eating dinosaurs called titanosaurs. Some scientists think Giganotosaurus hunted in groups to take down these giants. Working together, they could have attacked dinosaurs over 100 feet long. Its brain was small compared to T. Rex.
