Climate Change

Climate change means Earth's weather is changing over time. The planet is getting a little warmer each year. This happens because of gases in the air that trap heat from the sun. People, plants, and animals all feel these changes. The good news is that everyone can help take care of our planet.

What Causes It

Earth has a blanket of gases around it called the atmosphere. Some of these gases trap heat and keep us warm. When we burn fuels like gas, oil, and coal, we add more of these gases to the air. This makes the blanket thicker, so more heat gets trapped. Cars, factories, and power plants all add these gases. Cutting down forests also adds to the problem because trees help clean the air.

How We Can Help

There are many fun ways to help the planet. You can ride a bike or walk instead of taking a car. Turning off lights when you leave a room saves energy. Planting trees helps clean the air. Recycling paper, cans, and bottles means less trash and less pollution. Eating more fruits and veggies also helps. Every small action adds up to make a big difference!

Fun Facts

  • Trees are like giant air cleaners that soak up bad gases and give us fresh air to breathe.
  • Solar panels use sunlight to make electricity without adding any pollution to the air.
  • Wind turbines are tall spinning machines that turn the wind into clean power for our homes.

One big tree can make enough oxygen in a year for two people to breathe!
