Habitats
A habitat is the place where an animal or plant lives. It gives them food, water, and shelter. Different creatures need different habitats. A fish needs water, and a camel needs a dry desert. Earth has many kinds of habitats all around the world.
Kinds of Habitats
Forests are home to birds, squirrels, and deer. Oceans are full of fish, whales, and coral. Deserts are hot and dry, but lizards and cactuses live there. Grasslands have lions, zebras, and tall grass. Each habitat is special in its own way.
Protecting Habitats
Sometimes habitats are in danger. Cutting down forests can leave animals with nowhere to live. Pollution can harm ocean habitats. People work to save these places by making parks. We can all help by keeping nature clean.
Fun Facts
- The Amazon rainforest is home to millions of plants and animals.
- Polar bears live in one of the coldest habitats on Earth.
- A single tree can be a habitat for many kinds of bugs and birds.
Did You Know?
Some animals can live in more than one habitat. Frogs, for example, spend time both in water and on land.
