Renewable Energy
Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is power that comes from things nature gives us over and over again. The sun shines, the wind blows, and rivers flow every day. We can turn these into electricity to light our homes and run our toys. This kind of energy does not run out. It also keeps the air and water clean.
Kinds of Renewable Energy
There are many kinds of renewable energy. Solar power uses the sun. Wind power uses big spinning turbines. Water power comes from rivers and waves. Geothermal energy comes from heat deep inside the earth. Plants can also be used to make fuel. Each kind helps us in a different way.
Why It Is Good
Renewable energy is good for our planet. It does not make smoke that hurts the air. It does not run out like coal or oil. It helps keep animals and plants safe. Many countries are building more solar panels and wind farms. Kids like you can help by saving power at home.
Fun Facts
- One hour of sunlight has enough energy to power the whole world for a year.
- The biggest wind turbines are taller than a 50 story building.
- Iceland gets almost all of its power from water and heat under the ground.
Did You Know?
The first solar panel was made way back in 1883, long before most homes even had electricity!
