The Silk Road

The Silk Road was not one single road. It was a web of paths that stretched thousands of miles. Traders used it to carry goods between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. It was named after the beautiful silk that came from China.

What Was Traded?

Merchants carried silk, spices, tea, and jade from the east. They brought back gold, glass, horses, and wool. Camels were used to cross the hot deserts. The journey could take months or even years.
