Dumplings

Dumplings are a yummy food made from soft dough. The dough is wrapped around a filling, like meat or vegetables. People all over the world make and eat dumplings. Each country has its own special kind. Some are boiled, some are steamed, and some are fried.

How They Are Made

First, cooks mix flour and water to make dough. They roll the dough flat and cut it into small circles. Then they add a filling in the middle. Finally, they fold the dough and seal the edges. The dumplings are then cooked in hot water, steam, or oil.

In China, people eat jiaozi and potstickers. In Italy, ravioli are a kind of dumpling filled with cheese or meat. Poland has pierogi, and Japan has gyoza. Even sweet dumplings exist, filled with fruit or chocolate. Every culture puts its own twist on this tasty food.
