Rice is one of the most popular foods in the world. It grows on tall grass plants in wet fields called paddies. Billions of people eat rice every day. It can be white, brown, black, or even red. Rice is soft and fluffy when it is cooked.
How Rice Grows
Rice grows best in warm, wet places. Farmers plant the seeds in flooded fields. The water helps the rice grow and keeps weeds away. After a few months, the plants turn golden. Then farmers cut them down and take out the grains.
Ways to Eat Rice
People cook rice in many yummy ways. You can boil it, steam it, or fry it. Rice goes with beans, meat, fish, and veggies. Some treats are made with rice too, like rice pudding and rice cakes. Sushi is made with sticky rice and is very famous.
