A sandwich is one of the easiest and best foods to make. It is two or more slices of bread with tasty things in the middle. People put ham, cheese, turkey, or peanut butter in sandwiches. Kids often bring sandwiches to school for lunch. There are many kinds of sandwiches around the world.

Who Made It

The sandwich is named after a man called the Earl of Sandwich. He lived in England in the 1700s. He wanted to eat without getting his hands messy. So he asked for meat between two pieces of bread. Soon, everyone started eating food this way.

Types of Sandwiches

There are many kinds of sandwiches. A grilled cheese has melted cheese inside toasted bread. A BLT has bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Clubs, subs, and wraps are also types of sandwiches. You can even make a sandwich with ice cream and cookies.
