Mount Kosciuszko is the highest mountain in Australia. It sits in the Snowy Mountains in the southeast of the country. The mountain is not very steep, so many people can walk to the top. It is named after a hero from Poland.

Mount Kosciuszko is about 7,310 feet tall. That is much shorter than big mountains in other parts of the world. But it is still the tallest in Australia. The top is covered with grass and wildflowers in summer. In winter, snow covers the mountain and people go skiing.
