The Balkan Peninsula is a big piece of land in southeastern Europe. It sticks out into the Mediterranean Sea. The peninsula is full of mountains, forests, and long coastlines. Many countries are on the Balkans, including Greece, Bulgaria, and Croatia. Each country has its own language, food, and traditions.
Many Countries, Many Cultures
More than ten countries make up the Balkans. Some of them are Serbia, Albania, Romania, Bosnia, and North Macedonia. The people speak many different languages. Mountains and Seas
The name 'Balkan' comes from a Turkish word for 'mountain.' Big mountain ranges run through the peninsula. The Dinaric Alps and the Balkan Mountains are two famous ones.
