The Carpathian Mountains are a big mountain range in Europe. They curve in the shape of a long question mark through several countries. The Carpathians have thick forests and tall peaks. Many wild animals still live there.
Through Many Countries
The Carpathian Mountains pass through Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, and a few other countries. They are about 950 miles long. The highest peak is called Gerlachovsky in Slovakia. It is over 8,700 feet tall. People in these countries love to hike and ski in the Carpathians.
Forests and Wildlife
The Carpathians have some of the biggest forests in Europe. Brown bears, wolves, and lynx live in these woods. These animals are hard to find in other parts of Europe now. The mountains are full of rivers, lakes, and caves. Many people visit to see the wild nature.
