The Pacific Ocean
The Pacific Ocean
The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean in the world. It is so big that it covers more than one third of our planet. You can fit all the land on Earth inside it and still have room left over. The Pacific sits between Asia, Australia, and the Americas. Its name means peaceful, but it can have huge waves and strong storms too.
How Big Is It?
The Pacific Ocean is huge. It stretches from the cold Arctic in the north to the icy waters near Antarctica in the south. It is wider than the moon! The deepest spot in any ocean is in the Pacific. It is called the Mariana Trench. It goes down almost seven miles. That is deeper than the tallest mountain is tall.
Animals And Islands
Many animals live in the Pacific Ocean. You can find blue whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, and bright fish. It is also home to the Great Barrier Reef, where lots of coral grows. The Pacific has thousands of islands. Hawaii, Fiji, and Japan are all found in this ocean. People sail, fish, and swim in its waters every day.
