The Scandinavian Peninsula
The Scandinavian Peninsula
The Scandinavian Peninsula is a large piece of land in northern Europe. It is home to two main countries, Norway and Sweden. A small part of Finland is also on the peninsula. The land has tall mountains, deep forests, and long coastlines. It is one of the largest peninsulas in Europe.
Fjords and Forests
Norway's coast is famous for its fjords. A fjord is a long, narrow bay with steep cliffs on each side. They were made by giant glaciers long ago. Thick forests of pine and birch trees cover much of the land. Wild animals like moose, reindeer, and brown bears live here. In the far north, people can see the beautiful Northern Lights in the sky.
People and History
The Scandinavian Peninsula was home to the Vikings over a thousand years ago. The Vikings were brave sailors who traveled to faraway lands. Today, people from the peninsula are called Scandinavians. They are known for being friendly and caring about nature. Their countries are also known for good schools and clean cities. Popular foods include fish, meatballs, and berries.
