Yosemite

Yosemite is a beautiful national park in California. It has tall stone cliffs, huge waterfalls, and giant trees. Millions of people visit Yosemite every year. The park became famous for its amazing scenery.

Cliffs and Waterfalls

Yosemite Valley has big gray stone cliffs on both sides. The most famous cliffs are El Capitan and Half Dome. Yosemite Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America. It drops more than 2,400 feet.

Giant Sequoias

Yosemite has groves of giant sequoia trees. These are some of the biggest trees in the world. Some sequoias have lived for over 2,000 years. The Grizzly Giant is one of the oldest trees in the park.

  • Yosemite has black bears that roam the forests.
  • The park was set aside by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864.
