Balance
Balance
Balance is what keeps you standing up and walking without falling. You use balance all day long. When you ride a bike or hop on one foot, you use balance. Your eyes, ears, and muscles all work together to help. Practicing balance makes it better.
How Balance Works
Deep inside your ears are tiny tubes filled with fluid. These tubes tell your brain which way is up. Your eyes also help by looking at the world around you. Your muscles use these messages to keep you steady. Your brain puts it all together in a flash.
Improving Balance
You can get better at balance with practice. Standing on one foot is a fun way to try. Yoga and dance also help improve balance. Sports like gymnastics need really good balance. The more you practice, the stronger your balance will be.
