Endurance
Endurance
Endurance means being able to do something for a long time without stopping. If you can run, swim, or bike for a while without getting too tired, you have good endurance. Building endurance makes you stronger and healthier.
Types of Endurance
Cardiovascular endurance is how long your heart and lungs can keep working during exercise. Running, swimming, and biking build this type. Muscular endurance is how long your muscles can keep working. Holding a plank or doing many push-ups tests this.
Both types of endurance are important for overall fitness.
Building Endurance
Start slowly and gradually do a little more each time. If you can run for five minutes, try running for six minutes next week. Small increases add up over time.
Be patient with yourself. Building endurance takes weeks and months, not days. Drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods to fuel your body.
