Exercise

Exercise means moving your body in ways that make it work hard. Running, jumping, swimming, and biking are all kinds of exercise. When you exercise, your heart beats faster and you breathe more deeply. Exercise helps you grow strong bones and strong muscles. It also helps you feel happy and sleep well at night. Kids should try to move their bodies every day.

Why Exercise Is Good for You

Exercise keeps your body healthy in many ways. It makes your heart and lungs work better. It builds strong muscles and bones. It can help you stay at a healthy weight. Exercise also helps your brain. It can make you feel calm and happy. Kids who exercise often do better in school. Your body was made to move, so moving feels great!

Fun Ways to Exercise

Exercise does not have to feel like work. Playing tag with friends is exercise. Riding a bike to the park is exercise. Dancing to music in your room is exercise, too. You can jump rope, climb trees, or play soccer. Swimming is a fun way to move your whole body. Even walking your dog counts. Try to find activities that you love so you will want to do them often.
