Playground Safety
Playground Safety
Playgrounds are great places to run, climb, and play. But you can get hurt if you are not careful. Following a few simple rules keeps everyone safe and happy.
Safe Play Rules
Always wait your turn on the slide and swings. Do not push or shove other kids. Hold on tight when you climb on monkey bars or jungle gyms.
Make sure the ground under the equipment is soft, like wood chips or rubber. Hard ground can hurt you if you fall. Stay away from broken equipment.
Dressing for the Playground
Wear shoes that grip well, like sneakers. Do not wear flip-flops or sandals on climbing equipment. Remove necklaces or scarves that could get caught.
In hot weather, the metal slides and bars can get very hot. Touch them first with your hand to check. Drink water and take breaks in the shade.
