Screen Time

Screen time means time you spend in front of a screen. This includes TVs, tablets, phones, and video games. Screens can be fun and helpful for learning. But too much screen time is not good for you.

Why Less Is Better

Looking at screens too long can hurt your eyes. It can also make it hard to sleep at night. Sitting still for hours is not good for your body. Too much screen time can mean less time to play outside or read. Doctors say kids should have limits on screen time each day.

Healthy Screen Habits

Try to take breaks from screens every 20 minutes. Look at something far away to rest your eyes. Play outside, read a book, or do a craft instead of using a screen. Do not use screens right before bed. Ask a grown-up to help you set a time limit.

Fun Facts

  • Doctors suggest kids get no more than two hours of fun screen time each day.
  • Looking at a screen can make you blink less than normal.
  • Blue light from screens can make it harder to fall asleep.
