Knights
Knights were special soldiers who lived a long time ago. They rode big horses and wore metal armor to keep them safe. Knights fought for kings and lords. They also tried to be kind and brave. Many stories and movies tell tales about knights and their adventures.
Becoming a Knight
Boys started training to be knights when they were young. First, they were called pages and helped in the castle. Next, they became squires and learned how to fight and ride horses. After many years of hard work, they could finally become knights. The king or a lord would tap their shoulder with a sword to make it official.
Armor and Weapons
Knights wore heavy armor made of metal to protect their bodies. Their helmets covered their faces. They carried swords, shields, and long spears called lances. Knights rode strong horses that were also sometimes covered in armor. All this gear was very heavy, but it kept the knight safe in battle.
