Who Were Gladiators
Most gladiators were slaves or prisoners. A few were free men who chose to fight to win money and fame. They lived and trained at special schools. Each kind of gladiator had different weapons and armor. Some used a sword and shield, while others fought with a net and trident.
The Fights
Fights were held as big shows for the public. Gladiators fought each other and sometimes even wild animals like lions and bears. The crowd would cheer for their favorites.
