The Golden Age of Athens happened in the 400s BCE. During this time, Athens became the center of art, learning, and democracy. Great thinkers, artists, and writers lived and worked there. Many of their ideas still influence us today.

Athens created one of the first democracies where citizens could vote on laws. Great philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle asked big questions about life. Historians like Herodotus wrote about the past. Scientists studied the natural world and tried to understand it.
Art and Architecture
The Parthenon was built on top of the Acropolis hill during this period. It is one of the most famous buildings in the world. Playwrights wrote tragedies and comedies that are still performed today. Sculptors created lifelike statues of people and gods.
