The History of Robots

People have dreamed about building machines that can move and work on their own for thousands of years. The first real robots were built in the 1900s for factories. Today, robots help with everything from building cars to exploring other planets. Robots are becoming smarter every year.

Early Robots

The word "robot" was first used in a 1920 play by Karel Capek. In 1961, the first industrial robot called Unimate started working in a car factory. It could lift and stack hot pieces of metal. Over time, robots took over many dangerous and repetitive jobs in factories.

Robots Today and Tomorrow

Today, robots are used in hospitals, warehouses, and even homes. Robot vacuums clean floors automatically. Surgical robots help doctors perform delicate operations. Mars rovers are robots exploring another planet. Scientists are working on robots that can walk, talk, and learn new things.
