The Scientific Revolution

The Scientific Revolution took place from about 1543 to 1700. During this time, many people changed how we see the world. They did tests and used math to check their ideas. They found out how the stars and planets really move. Their work started what we call modern science.

New Ways to Think

Before this time, most people believed old books about science. A man named Copernicus said Earth moves around the sun. This was a big surprise. Scientists started doing experiments to learn for themselves. They used tools like telescopes and microscopes.

Famous Scientists

Galileo used a telescope to look at the moon and planets. Johannes Kepler figured out how planets move in paths. Isaac Newton found out why things fall down. He called it gravity. Their ideas helped us understand space and nature.

Fun Facts

  • Galileo saw the moons of Jupiter through his telescope.
  • Isaac Newton watched an apple fall and started thinking about gravity.
  • The microscope helped people see tiny living things for the first time.

Did You Know?

The word 'scientist' was not even used until the 1800s, long after the Scientific Revolution.
