The Wild West

The Wild West was a time from about 1800 to 1900. People moved west across America to start new lives. The land was open and rough, with few towns. Cowboys, miners, and farmers all lived there. Native American tribes also lived on the land long before settlers arrived.

Cowboys and Cattle

Cowboys worked on big ranches taking care of cattle. They rode horses and wore wide hats to block the sun. They drove herds of cows across long trails to sell them. The job was hard, dusty, and sometimes dangerous.

Life on the Frontier

Towns in the Wild West were small and far apart. They had saloons, general stores, and sheriff offices. Life could be tough, and there were not many laws. Famous people like Wyatt Earp and Annie Oakley became part of Wild West stories.

Fun Facts
